Description: Mary Todd Lincoln lived a life filled with triumphs and tragedies but few people know her story. Now, actress Laura Keyes shares Mary’s story in an entertaining and educational program, which can be adapted to fit your needs. Miss Keyes’ meticulously researched performance has received wonderful reviews and it’s a show that should not be missed.

Food is Fun! Interactive Edible Food Crafts


Description: Interactive programs designed to inspire and bring out a child’s creativity through decorating cookies, cupcakes, gingerbread houses, Halloween haunted houses or chocolate making. “Rosie the Baker” is a real Pastry Chef who encourages the children to become more involved in the kitchen at home, leads the program in a pink chef’s coat, fun chef pants and a chef’s hat.

Other: Programs can be customized based on a special event or theme, i.e. decorating cookies shaped like a Wizard’s Hat for the new Harry Potter book release or chocolate making for Valentine’s Day.

Availability: All year (including weeknights and weekends) and some after-school times available.

Audience: K-8th grade

Fees: Start at $225 depending on program type and number of children in attendance. Discounts available for back-to-back programs in one day. Travel fees may apply.

Equipment: Most programs are self-contained and only require a room with tables and chairs for the children and (1) 6’ table for demonstration at beginning of program. Set up time: 30-40 minutes. Clean up time: 15-20 minutes.

Stortelling with Joy Aavang

Description: I Survived the Blitz: survival stories of WWII England; It’s in the Genes: family stories from WWI through WWII (unusual stories of an unusual family.); Fly the Flag for Me: Veterans’ stories taken from her three books under the same name; Preserving Family History: motivating and encouraging documentation; Holiday Fun: vacation adventures un title “Are We Having Fun Yet?”; Mothering: this wasn’t in the manual!; Coping: handling fear, trauma, stress. Deal with it by sharing.

Other: Joy was raised by grandparents and has experienced a most unusual life and learned to be fiercely patriotic from her WWI combat veteran grandfather and WWII U.S. Marine husband. She has chronicled three books on Veterans’ experiences and a fourth book on the history of her family through the time she became an American wife and mother. Joy is currently putting finishing touches on her fifth book.

Availability: Anytime-day or evening, weekends included.

American Eagle Productions

Description: Live theater based on Classic Children’s Literature and History. Each play is about an hour and includes eight professional actors, full sets and costumes and live music.

Description: Neil Whitham entertained with his BIRDS AND FROGS, DINOSAURS AND DOGS show dozens of times in the summer of 2009....including shows at the Chicago Ridge Library and the Reddick Library of Ottawa, IL. Author Neil (2 books, 40+ articles for adults) has performed in “Where Ideas Come From” show three years in a row for District 54 Schaumburg “Young Authors.” Neil alternates his own originals such as “The Ribbit Song” and “A T-Rex Named Sue” with well-known favorites that kids can sing at the mics!

Susan Stone Tells Tales!


Description: Watch out for the bear, the ogre, the mouse and the old fairy woman! Susan’s friends (puppets) often accompany her for family performances of lively, participatory, multicultural tales "...told with grace, heard with pleasure" (Booklist). Susan's theatrical background, as well as her twenty years of experience, inform her tales with presence and passion, infusing her programs with themes such as caring for the environment, the importance of compassion, and the necessity of laughter. She is, according to School Library Journal, "...An incredibly talented storyteller.” As an adjunct faculty member, Susan also teaches storytelling to teachers at National-Louis University. Her audio recordings have garnered a Parents Choice Gold Award; Gold NAPPA; Storytelling World Award. Workshops available for adults and children.
